APMA Prenatal/Pregnancy Massage Course Requirements
The prenatal/Pregnancy massage course shall be a minimum of 18 hours to include:
- Anatomical and Physiologic changes of Pregnancy.
- Common pregnancy complications and their relevance to massage.
- Benefits of Prenatal Massage
- Contraindications for Prenatal Massage.
- Treatment specific contraindication or adaptations during pregnancy.
- Pregnancy emergencies and course of action related to these conditions.
- Changes to positioning required for different stages in pregnancy.
- Minimum of 3 hours of hands on learning.
- Evaluation criteria for passing course.
- Up to 6 hours of individual student practice or study may be included.
- Curriculum may be taught through class room lectures, text books, media presentation, or remote training.
